Superb pair of French garden armchairs from the 19th century, elegant witnesses of a French art of living. Their wrought iron structure features beautiful scrolls and curls, characteristic of Restoration/Second Empire style garden furniture. The seat and backrest are made of horizontal wooden slats, with arched base legs: every detail tells a story of an era when gardens were furnished with refinement. The white paint, applied in several successive layers, now reveals a magnificent patina of authenticity — cracks, flaking, dark metal showing through — a sincere wear consistent with over a century of existence.
