An antique Welsh chair with a high back known as a lamb chair. It was made around 1820 and historically, these chairs were used by shepherds during lambing season to rest by the fire. The design of the lamb chair, with its winged back, protected shepherds from drafts during the cold spring months. Nowadays, this charming chair with its beautiful warm patina would make a perfect fireside chair and a lovely addition to any interior. It is important to note that it is also a very comfortable chair. It shows many repairs and signs of age and use, as one might expect; there are cracks and a few extra screws here and there. The back has a small metal plate added to stabilise an old crack. The back leg is loose but, once in position, it is completely stable.
