Set of two armchairs and a matching coffee table, designed by architect Rainer Schell in 1964. This minimalist piece of furniture was manufactured by the German manufacturer Franz Schlapp Möbel. The name of the chair is Shell Chair with the original model no. 320. The set comes from the Canto collection. The seats have a cubist-shaped frame made of solid wood where the seat of sturdy and thick saddle leather is created by the shape of the frame. This provides pleasant seating comfort. Both the chairs and the coffee table are a nice size and are lightweight, which also makes them a practical set. The set is in very nice vintage condition. The leather has acquired a beautiful patina over the years with slight wear related to time and use. It has some light stains that are not disturbing and give the chairs a personal look. Rainer Schell was a master student of Egon Eiermann, one of the leading German architects of the second half of the 20th century.
