Nickel-plated brass desk lamp with an articulated arm ending in a counterweight, resting on a circular wooden base. With its modernist aesthetic featuring clean geometric lines and functional design, it reflects the very essence of Art Deco. A metal plate affixed to the back of the base bears the inscriptions “BUQUET”; “BTÉ S.G.D.G.” and “PARIS”. Edouard-Wilfred Buquet (1866-?) is a French designer primarily known for his flexible two-arm desk lamp “EB27” which he designed in 1925 and for which he received a patent from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Paris on 9 February 1927. He would later create several variants of this lamp until 1940. The MoMA currently holds an example of the original “EB27” model. Shade missing. Slight signs of wear on the wooden base. Electrification needs attention. Overall good condition. From the Art Deco period.
