Directoire style side table with marquetry

Elegant French salon table from the late 19th century in Directoire style, made of rosewood and mahogany veneer with an inlay of a thin strip of light wood in gold. It rests on four legs ending in bronze hooves. The top is made of wood marquetry with a thin inlaid gold strip. A protective strip surrounds three sides of the top. This piece features a central niche closed by two doors covered in trompe l'oeil depicting leather book bindings, with a discreet bronze handle for opening the doors. A drawer completes its facade, equipped with an elegant bronze handle. There are some signs of wear on the top. Dimensions: L 51 cm x D 30.5 cm. H 78.5 cm. Weight 9 kg.
