An eclectic sugar bowl from the late 19th or early 20th century, made in Germany from silver-plated brass, featuring a warm, slightly yellowish silver colour and characteristic patina. The vessel's surface is mainly matte, with a subtle, aged sheen in less-used areas. The body is adorned with intricately engraved geometric and plant patterns: repeating diamond and oval motifs surrounded by fine dotted lines. The upper part of the body is distinguished by a row of vertical, openwork cut-outs, giving the construction lightness. The handle is tall, arched, and richly decorated with linear grooves, attached to the body with clearly visible rivets. The sugar bowl stands on four decorative, openwork legs with stylised, organic lines typical of late 19th-century decoration. The proportions are harmonious – a wide, shallow body and an elegant, tall handle emphasise the collectible character of the item. Condition is good for its age: there are signs of use, patina, and minor surface scratches, but no major damage or repairs. The form of this sugar bowl tells the story of the late 19th century, when eclecticism in applied arts allowed for the free combination of geometric and organic motifs. The engraved patterns evoke jewellery and table decorations of the era, and the lightness of the openwork details contrasts with the solidity of the metal. The delicate patina and slight traces of time seem to whisper of long-past tea gatherings, where the ceremony of daily gestures had its unique rhythm. The sugar bowl can be displayed on a classic dining table next to porcelain cups, silver-plated trays, or crystal vessels, creating a set inspired by historical tableware from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It will also fit perfectly in more eclectic arrangements – alongside modern glass forms or minimalist fabrics, where its rich details will create a visual accent. It is worth combining it with other vessels with metallic finishes to emphasise its unique texture and bring out the depth of the patina.
