A sugar bowl from the 1930s, attributed to the Hungarian manufacturer Argentor, made of silver-plated brass and featuring a form inspired by the plant world. Its compact, slightly flattened body is adorned with a delicate, openwork motif of stylised leaves and flowers, creating a light, almost lace-like ornament typical of late Art Nouveau with elements of early Art Deco. The subtly raised, round base hides rosettes with pronounced leaf veins, emphasising the organic dimension of the design. The high, smooth handle in a simple, polished line gives the whole piece functional compositional balance. The dominant tone is cool silver with a satin-matte surface, broken up by golden brass accents visible on the edges and in the openwork cut-outs. The absence of visible modern fittings or joints highlights traditional metalworking techniques. The interior of the vessel subtly glows with a brass sheen. The sugar bowl is in very good condition – only minor scratches and patina are visible, with no major damage or signs of repair. The vessel's form echoes the voice of the Central European interwar era: the silvery surface softly reflects light, evoking the image of a salon where cups and crystals co-create a calm ritual. The leaf details on the base speak of a fascination with nature, which in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras was a source of aesthetic inspiration; the drawing of plant motifs and the soft, matte patina combine a reflection on transience and durability. Brass highlights reveal traces of time, giving the object an individual, authentic character. The sugar bowl can find a place on a classically set table alongside porcelain from the 1920s and 1930s, cut glass or simple silver cutlery on a bleached tablecloth. It will also bring a refined accent to an eclectic arrangement – as a detail on a console, among contemporary forms or in a collector's display case. It can also serve as a small container for decorative trinkets, and its universal, organic form will emphasise the charm of both classic and modern interiors.
