Maison Lecan presents this large farmhouse table made of solid oak from the 1920s, featuring two belt drawers. It is a classic French country table, but with a more raw character than average. Its highlight is the tabletop. It is about 5 cm thick, with wide planks and a well-defined grain. Notably, the edges have never been straightened. The sides still follow the shape of the planks, with their undulations and reliefs, giving the table an almost brutalist aspect. It works very well in a contemporary interior. A few old pieces of wood incorporated into the tabletop remind us that it has been used for its intended purpose. The assembly is traditional: planks joined for the tabletop, belt and legs mounted with tenons and mortises, all pinned. The square legs with stopped chamfers are connected by an H-shaped stretcher with a moulded crossbar, and the base is stable. The two drawers are deep. We have equipped them with new shell handles. The tabletop has been fully restored in our workshop. It has been refinished until achieving a smooth surface, pleasant to the touch and easy to live with daily, then finished with wax. The base has retained its original patina. Measuring 270 cm in length, it comfortably seats 10 guests and 12 when a bit tighter. At each end, the tabletop extends 30 cm beyond the crossbars of the base, allowing for seating at the ends without bumping knees. With 60 cm under the apron, plan for chairs with a classic seat height of around 45 cm. Dimensions: Length 270 cm, Depth 90 cm, Height 76.5 cm / Height under apron: 60 cm. Ref LDP: 20261008-001.
