Exceptional original abstract composition by Iraqi painter Saad Alhaj Hassan (born in 1966), created in Baghdad in 2006. This mixed media work on canvas masterfully illustrates the Hurufiyya movement, where sacred Arabic calligraphy becomes material, texture, and architecture. The artist incorporates powerful reliefs (including the spiritual phrase "Bismillah Al-Shafi" engraved in the top right) and structures reminiscent of the walls of Baghdad. THE ARTIST AND AUTHENTICITY: Official status: Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 2003, member of the Association of Iraqi Plastic Artists. Officially listed as a visual artist and calligrapher (فنان تشكيلي وخطاط). Background: Numerous solo exhibitions since 1993 and national awards. Historical context: Painted in 2006, this work was created for the group exhibition "Colourful Journeys" at the Al-Duroby Gallery in Baghdad, with the official support of the French Cultural Centre in Baghdad. Ultimate proof on the reverse: The back of the canvas bears a handwritten inscription in pencil by the artist, including his dual signature (Arabic/Latin) and the crucial mention "Iraqi - Baghdad". CHARACTERISTICS: Dimensions: W 75 cm × H 90 cm. Technique: Mixed media on canvas, mounted on its original wooden frame. Condition: Excellent state of preservation. Documentation: Sold with its complete biographical notice and historical exhibition record.
