Hand-painted Dutch Delftware Chinoiserie lamp dated 1971, featuring a classic blue-and-white ginger jar base with a tailored green pistachio silk lampshade and Houlès trim. Professionally wired and ready for immediate use. The listed height includes the lampshade. This refined table lamp is crafted from an authentic Royal Delft ceramic ginger jar, dated 1971, and exemplifies the enduring appeal of Dutch blue-and-white ceramics interpreted for contemporary interiors. The original vessel has been sensitively converted into a lamp, preserving the integrity, proportions, and hand-painted decoration of the historic form. The classic ginger jar silhouette—long admired in both Eastern and Western decorative traditions—provides a balanced, sculptural presence. The surface is richly hand-painted with flowering botanicals in layered tones of cobalt blue, ranging from pale washes to deep, inky accents. It has the varied saturation and depth you only get from true hand decoration rather than transfer printing. The lamp is finished with a newly made, tailored drum lampshade in soft pistachio green silk, trimmed with refined passementerie by Houlès of Paris. Green and blue form a time-honored pairing in both Chinese export porcelain and European Delft traditions, and here the muted pistachio tone offers a fresh yet classical complement to the blue-and-white ceramic base.
