Louis XV work table in rosewood and mahogany marquetry, made in a Parisian workshop in the mid-19th century. This rare piece features a top rich in arabesques and scrolls in mahogany, inlaid into a rosewood veneer arranged in butterfly wings. The centre is adorned with a monogrammed brass plaque -RD-. The top opens with two chiselled brass hinges and is supported by an original right-hand bracket. We note a two-hook lock in perfect working order accompanied by a sculpted key. A rectangular mirror surrounded by mouldings is present on the flap. Inside this work table is a sliding drawer in mahogany, accompanied by a box with three compartments. Once pulled out, we discover an interior also in mahogany. The front of the drawer, with a movement and concave shape, is inlaid with rosewood and mahogany forming beautiful arabesques. The underside of this small work table features a funnel-shaped drawer. Finally, this table rests on four elegantly curved cabriole legs, ending in gilded bronze sabot. The two outer sides, set against a rosewood background, are inlaid with mahogany. Graceful and clever, this Louis XV work table will charm you with its unique shape combining rich marquetry and elegance. ******** Period: Mid-19th century. Excellent condition. Restoration in our workshop. Varnish finish. Delivery possible, in France and Europe, by our partner specialised in furniture transport. Dimensions: Height: 71 cm. Width: 57 cm. Depth: 40 cm.
