A vase designed by Jerzy Słuczan-Orkusz for the Krakow Glass Institute in the 1970s is a striking example of artistic glass from that decade. The cylindrical form made of thick glass features an intense, semi-transparent orange colour with a high gloss, drawing attention with its depth and luminous surface. The sides of the body are decorated with massive applications: vertical loops and coils, made using the overlay technique, smoothly transition into the smooth surface, showcasing the craftsmanship of hand-forming. The finish is smooth, with occasional small air bubbles – details typical of unique artistic glass. The slightly flared base ensures the stability of the composition. The condition is very good, with no visible damage or signs of repair; the surface remains intact. The form of this vase carries the spirit of a decade of experimentation and bold expression. The colour evokes the light of Central European 1970s, and the geometric applications reinterpret Art Nouveau motifs in a distinctive postmodern style. The glass, transmitting light, becomes a carrier of energy and movement, while the decorative loops, like frozen gestures, capture a moment of glassmaking craftsmanship. The vase tells a story of a time when applied art flirted with sculptural form, and the boundary between function and pure aesthetic experiment blurred with each new project. This object can be combined with other glass or ceramic accents to create a composition on a modern sideboard or minimalist console — it is particularly effective in the company of neutral materials such as raw wood or concrete. It brings a distinct, colourful accent to arrangements in the spirit of mid-century modern, postmodernism, or in eclectic collector interiors. It is worth placing it where natural light will bring out the intensity of the colour and allow you to admire the plasticity and details of the handmade work.
