A beautiful French Art Deco ceiling light (plafonnier), dating from around 1930, featuring a sculptural moulded frosted white glass shade, signed ROS, a signature associated with Degué on select lighting designs of the period. The stunning shade is richly decorated with stylised floral clusters, geometric motifs and cubist-inspired foliage, capturing the sophisticated elegance of the Art Deco era. The frosted glass creates a beautifully diffused light, casting a soft, warm ambient glow when illuminated. The shade is suspended from three rope-style supports, finished with a charming porcelain cup-form ceiling fitter, adding further authentic period character. The light has French twin core braided wiring and takes a large screw in bulb E27. The shade is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It does have some air bubbles within the glass which is a common feature in glass lighting from this era. The signature is a little faded on the shade. The ropes show some age related marks and areas of discolouration with some fraying. The ceiling canopy is free from cracks with just some minor age related marks. All of the items we sell are second hand/vintage/antique and used, so please check the photos before purchasing as these form part of the description.
