Lobi statuette in carved wood, representing a stylized human figure, characteristic of the bateba, traditional sculptures of the lobi people, established in burkina faso, ghana and ivory coast. These figures were used in a ritual context and placed in homes or sanctuaries to interact with the spiritual world. This statue, probably made in the first half of the 20th century (1920s-1950s), presents the distinctive characteristics of the bateba: an upright and frozen posture, a face with refined and expressive features, as well as wood marked by time. Its natural patina and wear give it an authentic charm and a strong sculptural presence. Mounted on a basic black base, it measures 25 cm in total height, which makes it a beautiful decorative object inspired by primitive arts and african tribal art. An ideal piece for an ethnic decoration or for a collection of traditional carved objects.
