Beautiful carved wooden tribal statue, attributed to the mitsogho and vuvi of gabon, dated to the mid to late 20th century. This sculpture is distinguished by its stylized and geometric features, with a triangular nose and mouth, rounded cheeks. This statue is partially covered in white pigments, a feature found on mitsogho, vuvi and punu ritual masks and sculptures, often applied for apotropaic purposes to repel evil spirits. The wood, marked by a natural patina, highlights the details of the sculpture. The yellow bead necklace adds a distinctive touch. This piece rests on a black wooden base, ensuring stability and enhancement.
