Set of 4 AwA Scissor Chairs - teak mid century modern - new upholstery

A particularly beautiful set of 4 so-called Scissor Chairs, a name referring to the characteristic crossing shape of the wooden frame, reminiscent of the blades of scissors. These chairs are a wonderful example of Dutch Mid-Century Modern design, where clear design is combined with surprisingly comfortable seating. The crossed frame gives the chairs a strong, sculptural appearance, while the flowing lines and carefully shaped backrests ensure an elegant and inviting form. The frames are made of beautiful solid teak. The warm wood is beautifully complemented by the newly upholstered seats in a deep, dark green 'Odense' upholstery fabric. The combination of natural teak and rich green tone gives the set a stylish and timeless appearance. As is characteristic of solid wood furniture and artisanal production, there may be very small visible differences between the chairs in terms of wood color, shade, and grain pattern. This is actually a lovely testament to the use of genuine solid teak and the handcrafted nature of the production. No two pieces of wood are exactly the same. The Scissor Chairs are versatile as dining chairs but also look wonderful as standalone armchairs in a living room, home office, or reception area. Thanks to their powerful design, they effortlessly combine with both modern, Scandinavian, and more eclectic interiors. The complete set has been carefully reviewed, restored, reupholstered, and is ready for years of use. Together, these four chairs form a characterful and particularly beautiful set. The model and design are often attributed to Louis van Teeffelen. Height: 87 cm. Seat height: 49 cm. Width: 45 cm. Seat width: 45 cm. Depth: 53 cm. Seat depth: 40 cm.
