Superb vintage French octagonal ceramic bowl, made in the workshop "La Roue, " founded and directed by the ceramist Robert Picault (signature RP) in Vallauris in the 1950s. The copper-oxide green color: The octagonal edge is adorned with a hand-painted geometric frieze in copper-oxide. This iconic technique of the ceramist offers unique chromatic variations depending on the firing and brush application, ranging from a bright turquoise sea green to a deep antique green. The central decoration: The heart of the piece features a pattern of white engraved spirals (rouelles) on a background of powdered pink/soft terracotta glaze, creating a pastel contrast of great modernity. Condition: Very good vintage condition. A refined and highly decorative collectible item.
