Walnut rocaille bed from the early 20th century.

Imposing bed described as "rocaille", in solid walnut and veneer, very fashionable at the beginning of the 20th century. It features all the hallmarks of the genre, with its abundant decoration, finely carved with shells, crescents, and other leafy and floral scrolls, including its leafy feet ending in a snail shape. This bed is of very high quality and in excellent condition considering its age, with only two missing veneer pieces (see last photo) that are not visible as they are located beneath the level of the bed base and mattress. Its period dimensions (for a bed base and mattress of 130 x 190 cm) make it suitable to serve as a large bed for a single person or for two slender individuals. This type of bed is ideally suited for a makeover, in white "shabby chic", but also in anthracite grey, etc. (many examples are available online).
