Louis XV style curved chest of drawers of very fine craftsmanship (Faubourg work)

Very beautiful louis XV style curved chest of drawers. Of very fine craftsmanship, it is a work that can be attributed to the faubourg st antoine, in paris, where all the cabinetmakers who remade period furniture according to the rules of the art gathered. Our chest of drawers features a very beautiful fretwork marble with beautiful veins that has been split and restored in one place (see photo). It opens with two large drawers with superbly curved fronts and set with rich bronzes both at the level of the keyhole and the large handles. It is beautiful veneered wood and is inlaid with floral motifs of great finesse. The front of the bottom drawer acts as the bottom of the cabinet with its beautiful worked shape. The original lock and key are present and perfectly functional. Moreover, the mechanism is quite nice: the top lock, instead of going up to close, goes down and comes, with a brass system, to block the two drawers with a single turn of the key! We note the pretty bronzes of the front uprights, as well as the marquetry of the sides. The rounded curves of this chest of drawers give it a warm personality reinforced by the superb original patina. It is a beautiful piece of work, with solid wood drawer bottoms, a very beautiful interior structure (visible when the drawers are removed) and a solidly paneled back, it is solid and stable. Apart from a few rare minor incidents of veneer in two or three places, it is in excellent general condition. L: 129 cm. D: 54 cm. H: 85 cm.
