Louis XV jump commode
This curved Louis XV style commode dates from the early 20th century. Materials: veneered wood in marquetry (rosewood and mahogany), breccia marble top, patinated bronze. Features: this commode opens with two drawers. Its curved front and sides are adorned with a checkerboard marquetry, framed by a darker veneer. The moulded edge marble top follows the curved shape of the piece. The two drawers, without a central rail, open with pull handles and close with rocaille bronze lock entries. Corner drops, an openwork apron, and bronze feet embellish the commode, which rests on four high cabriole legs. Condition: the commode is stable on its feet. In superb condition, both its marquetry and marble top, a small imperfection (hardly visible) is noted on the right side. Dimensions: L118 x D54 x H87. Upper drawer: L87 x H21. Lower drawer: L87 x H16. A commode inspired by the 18th century, with curved lines and meticulous decoration. It adds character to a classic interior and also contrasts beautifully in a contemporary or minimalist decor.
