Round pedestal side table from France, in the manner of Charles Dudouyt. The top is a plain wood disc with a molded rim underneath, and the grain runs clearly across the surface. The turned column has a ring-turned collar at the top and a body carved with five rows of faceted, diamond-point studs. A second ring collar sits below the studs, followed by a tapering section that ends in carved pointed facets where it meets the base. The column stands on a wide round base with stepped concentric rings and small round bun feet. The wood has a medium brown stain with a warm sheen, and the grain shows on the top and the base. The carving and turning are chunky and hand-finished, which gives the table a sculptural, rustic presence. It works as a side table, a lamp table or a plinth for a sculpture.
