Portrait of a young Merovingian woman, enhanced engraving, nineteenth century

This beautiful engraving, enhanced with oil, is the portrait of a young woman. It is of troubadour style, an artistic movement of the first half of the nineteenth century that appropriated the idealized atmosphere of the middle ages and the renaissance. It depicts a woman in merovingian costume (vie-viiie century). She wears a blue headband, with two braids tied by purple ribbons. She stands in a forest setting with many trees behind her. Frame dimensions: 26 cm wide and 33 cm long.
