Original signed pastel by Jean Target (1910–1997), depicting a Mexican folk dance scene. The artist captures a dancing couple in the midst of a choreography: the woman wearing a richly decorated traditional dress, the man brandishing a torch in an expressive movement. A handwritten inscription pays tribute to Joaquín Pérez Fernández and Mayté Morel, as part of the show Embrujo Panameño. Executed in pastel and pencil on paper, the work perfectly embodies the style of Jean Target, known for his lively sketches taken in Parisian theaters, operas, and cabarets for over thirty years. His swift and fluid line captures the momentum of the body and the tension of movement, to the detriment of fixed details, to convey the lively energy of the scene. The drawing (approx. 23 X 33 cm) is mounted under a white mat (total dimensions 30 X 40 cm) and presented in a contemporary black frame in excellent condition. The whole is very well preserved, without stains or folds, with vibrant colors.
