Lamp base by Jacques Blin in ceramic – 1950s/60s

This piece immediately captivates with its bulbous silhouette and particularly elegant proportions, its generous material, and its beautiful palette of ivory beige, brown, and black, accented with delicate speckled nuances. The incised decoration, created in Blin's very personal graphic vocabulary, unfolds around the body: stylised birds, plant elements, foliage, and linear motifs compose a poetic, almost primitive scene, where each line seems to have been drawn directly into the material. The beauty of this lamp base also lies in its balance between sculpture and functional object. Even without a lampshade, it constitutes a true decorative piece and will naturally find its place in a contemporary, brutalist, wabi-sabi, or Mid-Century interior.
