Olivier Pettit (1918–1979) was a French sculptor and ceramicist. Born in Paris, he enrolled in the École des Beaux-Arts in 1938 in the sculpture section, interrupted his studies during the Second World War to enlist in the Navy and serve in the Free French Forces. He received the Silver Medal at the International Ceramics Exhibition in Cannes in 1956. From 1968, he settled in his residence in Var near Flayosc, where he continued his production until the end of his life. Pettit signs his works by hand with his initials: a "P" vertically crossing a "O" — a monogram visible under the base, surrounded by a brown-red ring. Very good condition. Height: 13.8 cm. Related ceramicists: Jacques Blin, Roger Capron, Jean Derval (French ceramics of the 1950s–1960s, incised animal decorations, Mediterranean and Vallaurian production).
