This original painted bridal cabinet dates from 1795. The cabinet has, in its long life, the necessary traces of use that can be expected. For example, the crest and foot have been replaced at some point, and you can occasionally see old woodworm holes throughout. The whole has of course been checked and treated, and is ready for use. This cabinet comes from the weissenburg region in bavaria and has a beautiful painting on the door. Depicted here is the tree of life, the core motif of folk art. This grows from a gefäss/chalice, holder of the water of life. The cabinet still has the original layout on the inside with coat hooks and a shelf. More shelves can easily be added if desired. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed in a state room on the farm that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. 185cm high, 109cm wide, 44cm deep.
