Painted Folk Art Bridal Cupboard 1794

Original painted bridal cabinet from 1794. The cabinet has a weathered characteristic appearance and is provided with decorative paintings in the panels and on the door. The door is provided with the wedding date and the initials of the previous owner. The panels are decorated with flowers. The cabinet still has the original layout on the inside with coat hooks and a shelf. A second shelf was added later. The original lock with key is also present and still works properly. Apart from the weathered appearance, the cabinet is in a neat condition with some minimal wear on the corners of the crest. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed in a state room on the farm that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions.
