Pair of gazelles bookends regulus gray patina french art-deco marble terrace from the 1910s/1920s hippolyte moreau (1832-1926) was a french sculptor who exhibited at the salon des artistes français between 1860 and 1914, and won medals at the universal exhibitions of 1878 and 1900. He is the author of the statue of alexis claude clairaut on the facade of the hôtel de ville in paris (1880). His creations are essentially medium-sized works and decorative objects. Here is an elegant animated wildlife scene representing two leaping gazelles almost stylized in the purest art-deco style.
