A bridal chest with primitive decoration and paintwork, originating from Germany, specifically Middle Franconia. This chest has a very rustic appearance and a strong character. The entire piece is decorated with a striped pattern, and the front panels are adorned with village scenes and tulips. The chest is in good, but used, condition. There are some traces of woodworm, which have, of course, been checked and treated. It was once customary to offer this type of bridal furniture to newlyweds at weddings. These pieces were then placed in a state room of the farmhouse, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A magnificent and decorative historical piece. This example dates from 1834. 85 cm high, 143 cm wide, 62 cm deep.
