Still life with blue Westerwald jug, pewter lid – Marjolein van den Berg

An upright still life with a blue Westerwald jug with a pewter lid, in stoneware with applied palmettes on a cobalt-blue ground, on a stone pedestal with a white cloth against a dark background. Painted in acrylic on canvas by Marjolein van den Berg, c. 2011, as part of her series of still lifes with pewter and archaeological finds. The artist trained at the Tekenacademie and the Grafische school in Amsterdam and is known for her trompe-l’oeil murals and panels. This work is in a black-painted wooden frame with a gold-coloured inner slip, signed 'Marjolein' (and faintly 'Bellezza'). Good condition, with the paint layer intact and only light signs of use on the frame. The painting can be viewed by appointment in Boven-Leeuwen, the Netherlands. Worldwide shipping available.
