Engraving by Choffard "The Badly Guarded Girl"

Antique reproduction of a 1789 engraving by Pierre-Philippe Choffard (1730-1809) based on the gouache by Pierre-Antoine Baudouin (1723-1769) "The Reprimand. A Young Girl Quarreled by Her Mother". Other names are sometimes given to this painting: the poorly kept girl, or the surprised lovers. This lithograph was intended for Pierre-Joseph Victor de Besenval, Baron of Broonstatd (Alsace) and is dedicated "By his very humble and obedient servant Choffard". The painting is said to have inspired the ballet of the same name, also known as "Ballet of the Straw". Some pinholes on the paper. Dimensions: 32.5 X 24.7 cm.
