Original pastel signed by Jean Target – Masked dance in Tibet, 30 x 40 cm

Original signed pastel by Jean Target (1910–1997), depicting a Tibetan ritual dance scene. The dancer, dressed in a brightly colored traditional costume, performs an expressive side step, torso bent and arms outstretched, in a pose imbued with dramatic tension. The frightening mask worn on the abdomen accentuates the ritual and theatrical dimension of the composition. The handwritten inscription in the lower left corner reads: Masked Dance in Tibet by AZOKA. The scene is captured live, in a free and dynamic style characteristic of Jean Target, who devoted much of his work to capturing expressions of stage movement around the world. The lightly washed background of warm hues contrasts with the intense blacks and reds of the costume, reinforcing the visual impact. Sheet size: approximately 23 X 33 cm, mounted under a white mat (overall dimensions: 30 X 40 cm) in a contemporary black frame in excellent condition. The work is well preserved, bright colors, slight superficial marks in the upper part (traces of annotation or workshop), without impact on readability or general quality.
