Antique painted folk art wedding chest

This magnificent antique wedding chest dates from around 1900 and features very decorative painting. This piece comes from Romania and is a wonderful example of the folk art of the time. It was customary to give wedding furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. These pieces were then placed in a display room at the farm, which was only rarely used for important guests or special occasions. All our wedding chests have been checked and, if necessary, restored, while maintaining their characteristic appearance. This piece is mainly painted in the national colours of Romania and still has very beautiful colours.
