Mastery of Nimy - Waem Louis (1922)

Plat maitrise de nimy signed on the back waem louis (1922) Diamer 31 cm. Height 6 cm. Eight young artists settled in 1943 in the buildings where nimy earthenware was made, under the direction of raoul godfroid, director of the voor schone kunsten academy in bergen, in consultation with his friends jules moreau, director of the nimy earthenware. Fernande massart, georges destrebecq, louis waem, rené lemaigre, pierre monnaie, andré hupet, irène zacq and geneviève noe, who under the name of maitrise de nimy will be a pioneering movement aimed at raising ceramics to the level of art, in a context of production that had been, until then, essentially industrial. The group was dissolved after the definitive closure of the nimy factory in 1950.
