Covered pot in ceramic by Roger Capron (1922-2006), made in Vallauris. A beautiful piece with a geometric and abstract decor, characteristic of French ceramic creations from the mid-20th century. On a dark brown matte background, wide vertical bands glazed in bright colours – yellow, orange, blue, and white – create a graphic and rhythmic decor. The lid features these radiating patterns and is topped with an elegant white spherical knob, adding a sculptural touch to the whole. Roger Capron (1922-2006) is one of the key figures in the revival of Vallauris ceramics. A graduate of the School of Applied Arts in Paris, he settled in Vallauris in 1946 and founded the Callis workshop with Robert Picault, later joined by Jean Derval. He developed a particularly inventive production, combining original shapes, graphic decors, and coloured glazes. His work, awarded several times, holds an important place in the history of 20th-century French ceramics. A decorative piece full of personality, representative of the modernist aesthetic of the 1950s-1960s. Origin: Vallauris, France. Period: mid-20th century, indicative dating. Ceramicist: Roger Capron. Dimensions: Height: 13 cm. Diameter: 6.7 cm. Condition: perfect condition.
