Antique pine sideboard with two drawers and two doors – China, circa 1930

This antique buffet made of solid fir, featuring two drawers, two doors, and a warm dark patina, is a domestic piece from northern China dating to around 1930. It does not retain a manufacturer's label and is described by its typology and region. Buffets with drawers and doors were part of the essential furniture in rural homes in China, combining quick storage in the high drawers and main storage—bedding, dishes, tools—behind the lower doors. Its slightly generous height made it comfortable to use while standing. The frame is assembled using blind mortise and tenon joints. The two doors pivot on wooden axes and close with forged iron rings, accompanied by discreet matching entries. The two high drawers also retain their original rings.
