This Dora model rock lamp was designed by French creator André Cazenave and produced in Italy by Singleton during the 1960s, within the Organic Modern and Mid-Century Modern movements. The sculptural body is made of fibreglass and polyester resin coated with a granular layer of natural stone and marble powder. When switched off, its matte and rough surface reproduces the irregular grain and neutral sand-grey tone of a natural rock. When lit, the translucent structure filters light through the mineral coating and projects a warm ambient glow with soft variations in intensity according to the relief of its faces. Designed with an organic and asymmetrical profile resting on a flat base, the Dora model is one of the compact formats in Cazenave's luminous stone series. With a height of 16 cm and a base of 35 by 30 cm, its low scale allows it to be placed directly on the floor—alone or grouped—or on a sideboard, console, or low shelf in a living room, bedroom, or interior design project. Original 1960s pieces edited by Singleton attract the interest of 20th-century European lighting collectors and professionals seeking sculptural ambient lighting pieces from the era.
