Rare sculptural radiator cover or storage unit by Luciano Frigerio, Italy, circa 1960s. The piece is made of richly grained wood and features Frigerio's distinctive geometric relief pattern on the front. Unlike a conventional sideboard, it opens from the top with a hinged flap. Originally designed to conceal a radiator, it allowed heat to circulate through the perforated upper part while providing a functional surface to keep food or textiles warm. Today, it works just as well as a low console or storage unit—ideal for blankets, books, or ski clothes—and can serve as a display piece for ceramics or flowers. The quality of craftsmanship and the depth of the wood finish reflect the high standard typical of the Frigerio workshop in Desio, near Milan. A beautiful example of post-war Italian design that combines sculptural presence with everyday utility. We love Luciano Frigerio and have other pieces in our collection, such as the famous dining table (with the 6 frog-shaped legs) and the Piano Living Room set, so be sure to check them out! We handle international shipping in-house and are often faster than external carriers, with delivery to the United States and Asia typically after two weeks, including the packing process.
