Vintage hand-turned live edge wooden bowl
Beautiful hand-turned wooden bowl made from a single solid piece of wood, retaining part of the tree’s natural bark edge around the rim. The irregular organic outline and visible knots give the piece a sculptural, one-of-a-kind character. The bowl has been turned across the grain, leaving the growth rings beautifully visible on both the interior base and underside. The warm honey-brown wood contrasts nicely with the darker natural bark. Its low, broad proportions make it ideal as a fruit bowl, serving bowl or decorative centrepiece. The style is typical of mid-century / 1960s–1970s studio woodturning and rustic Scandinavian-inspired design, although the piece is unsigned and I therefore cannot attribute it to a particular maker or country. Approx. 22–23 cm wide × 7–8 cm high. Good vintage condition with natural irregularities, knots and age-related traces. There is a natural drying split visible through the centre of the wood, particularly on the underside/interior base; this follows the grain and contributes to the rustic character of the piece. Please see photos. A very attractive piece of vintage studio woodturning, especially nice for a wabi-sabi, rustic modern or Scandinavian interior. REF 26347.
