Biot vase blown by Jean Claude Novaro

Blown glass vase – Jean-Claude Novaro – Biot – 1980s. Superb hand-blown glass vase made by master glassmaker Jean-Claude Novaro in Biot, a famous glassmaking village on the Côte d’Azur. The vase features a flared and organic shape, typical of Novaro's artistic work. The decoration combines a slightly speckled white background with beautiful applications of coloured glass in iridescent blue, brown, and amber hues. The wavy rim and glass drips give the piece a very sculptural appearance. The interior of the vase also reveals a stunning play of amber and marbled colours, a signature of the complex fusion and layering techniques used by the artist. Each piece is entirely handmade, making this vase unique and a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship of the Novaro workshop in Biot.
