Very beautiful watercolour by Maurice Fillonneau (1930-2000) titled "The Rain". After working extensively for others, Maurice Fillonneau decided to exhibit his paintings. His first exhibition was in 1976 at the Orangerie in Nantes, following his meeting with the painter Joël Dabin. His rise was very rapid, and soon he was exhibiting in Japan, where he received the Holbein Prize in 1980, as well as in Belgium, Germany, and the United States. His "wet" watercolours made his name. Indeed, he soaked his paper in water and painted on both sides of the wet paper, without making any sketches beforehand, creating much movement in his paintings: a sketched gesture, a still damp background swept across.
