Louis-Philippe period commode (19th century) in walnut burl veneer on a fir frame, featuring the sober and elegant architecture characteristic of the style: curved lines, slightly overhanging top with cut corners, rounded uprights. It opens with five drawers: Two waist drawers, with curved mouldings and turned knobs; Three large front drawers, adorned with a beautiful walnut burl grain with flamed veins, equipped with lock entries and their original iron keys. The quality of traditional craftsmanship is evident in the joints: hand-cut dovetails visible on the sides of the drawers, a testament to 19th-century artisanal cabinetmaking. The veneer is lively and contrasting, ranging from honey blonde to caramel brown, giving this commode a very decorative character. The patina, natural and unrestored, shows the marks of time: some superficial cracks in the veneer, minor wear and stains on the top — all signs of authenticity that do not affect the stability or functionality of the piece. All drawers slide smoothly and the complete set of keys is preserved. A sincere piece, in its original state, that will appeal to lovers of authentic antique furniture, to be integrated as is into a patinated interior or entrusted to a restorer for bespoke enhancement.
