Description
19th century chest of drawers with 4 drawers in solid walnut and polished walnut burl veneer. This restoration chest of drawers makes the transition between the first empire style and the romantic louis philippe style. The change lies in the structure with the appearance of discrete curves. The corners and edges of the trays are rounded. The three large drawers are framed by uprights in molded strips and lightly sculpted with foliage and flowers which emphasize the framing of the facade. Ornate bronze keyholes. The rectangular molded wooden top whose molding is painted black rests on a projecting belt concealing a fourth drawer. Base made up of a plinth joining low legs. From 1820, the mechanization of workshops allowed the production of cheaper furniture intended for the small and middle bourgeoisie. Furniture manufacturers in large cities produced large quantities of chests of drawers until the end of the 19th century. This production is facilitated by the simple structure of this furniture with smooth surfaces that are easy to veneer. Good general condition, small dings and minimal detachment of the veneer, the top has a few cracks. Very beautiful patina.
