Animal Sculpture Horse, Terracotta, Unique Piece, 1960s

Expressionist, Abstract, and Brutalist sculpture of a horse with an outstretched neck created by Mario Peruggini in the 1950s and 1960s. Unique piece. In perfect condition. In the style of Olivier Strebelle (Cheval Bayard) Biography: Born in 1923 in Italy, he trained in drawing and ceramics in Urbino and moved to Belgium in 1947, where he continued his training at the École Industrielle Commerciale et de Dessin in Châtelet. He then studied under Alphonse Darville at the Académie des Beaux Arts in Charleroi. In 1952, he was hired by Roger Guérin as a sculptor, modeler, and molder, where he was responsible for creating architectural pieces. In 1957, he joined Crame-Crame in Châtelineau, where he specialized in sculptural works. He then became a professor at the Charleroi Academy of Fine Arts, where he ended his career. He exhibited at the 38th Charleroi Art Fair in 1965. He sometimes signed his works with the monogram "MP." As an animal sculptor, he sculpted animals in tense and improbable poses (bulls, horses, dogs). Women were also one of his favorite subjects (busts, trunks, nude women).
