Unique ceramic sculpture titled "Coppia" by Clizia (Mario Giani), made in Italy in the 1970s. One-of-a-kind piece, available at the showroom in Marseille. Worldwide delivery possible with a personalised quote and assistance before purchase. Figurative sculpture in chamotte terracotta with a dark brown patina representing two figures sitting side by side. This work illustrates the formal vocabulary developed by Mario Giani, known as Clizia, whose compositions with simplified silhouettes and meditative expressions hold a unique place in Italian ceramics of the second half of the 20th century. The stylised figures with archaic and meditative forms have marked Italian ceramics of the 1960s-1970s. Piece signed and numbered XII/XVII (12/17), certifying a limited edition. Beautiful sculptural presence, with a deliberately raw and textured surface highlighting the modelling of the faces and hands. Numbered XII/XVII and stamped CLIZIA under the base. Dimensions. H. 25 cm × W. 28 cm × D. 13 cm.
