Vintage Black Orthoceras Fossil Stone Dish – Polished Natural Stone

An elegant decorative dish carved from dark fossiliferous stone, featuring beautifully preserved Orthoceras fossils embedded in its surface. The elongated, segmented fossil formations stand out in shades of pale grey and ivory against the deep charcoal-black background, creating a fascinating contrast between prehistoric natural history and contemporary design. Its asymmetrical shape, with one rounded end and one straight edge, gives the piece a distinctly sculptural appearance. The polished surface reveals the intricate fossil patterns, while the shallow recessed centre makes it ideal as a jewellery tray, small catchall or decorative object. Measuring approximately 13 × 9 cm, it brings an organic, almost brutalist character to a shelf, desk or coffee table. In great vintage condition. REF 26258.
