Vintage 'Orkidea' vase by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala

Large vintage vase 'Orkidea' (Orchidée) designed by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala in 1953. Signed with an incised signature 'TIMO SARPANEVA 236 / 1990' on the base. An authentic piece of Finnish glass design from the 1950s. Awarded a Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale in 1954. Timo Sarpaneva (1926 - 2006) was not only the artist who designed the 'i' logo for Iittala, but his innovative work combines art and utilitarian design. In addition to glass, he also worked with textiles, wood, porcelain, and metal. His unique industrial design contributed to Finland's global reputation in the design world. His work received the Lunning Prize and was awarded twice at the Milan Triennale. Timo Sarpaneva (1926–2006) was not only the artist who created the 'i' logo for Iittala.
