This Art Deco Longwy bowl, handmade in France in July 1930, showcases the celebrated cloisonné enamel work of the factory at its peak. The decoration features large stylised daisies in blue, green, and white against a rich red enamel background, punctuated with vermilion dots and framed by deep cobalt blue borders. The surface bears Longwy's distinctive crackled glaze, a mark of authenticity and craftsmanship. The underside is fully documented: the golden Longwy France stamp, the engraving "7 30" precisely dating the bowl to July 1930, as well as model references D.5416 and 3021. This rare combination of marks ensures a solid provenance, enhancing its appeal to connoisseurs of Longwy ceramics. The condition is excellent, with no damage to the enamel; only a slight discolouration appears on the base, which is not visible when displayed. Longwy, founded in 1798 in the Lorraine region of France, is distinguished by its innovative techniques of enamel on ceramics imitating metal cloisonné. The factory has become synonymous with Art Deco ceramics, using stylised floral, geometric, and colourful patterns, enriching the cultural heritage of French decorative arts. An emblematic example of the coloured glazed pottery of the Art Deco period, this piece captures the fusion of colour, geometry, and botanical stylisation characteristic of Longwy.
