This sumptuous piece of Napoleon III period furniture, made of blackened pear wood in the 19th century, pays tribute to the masterpieces of Charles-André Boulle, the iconic cabinetmaker of Louis XIV. Its curved door immediately draws the eye: entirely inlaid with finely chiselled brass scrolls on a sumptuous background, it offers a contrast of rare intensity and exceptional decorative richness. The original lock, perfectly functional, is accompanied by stunning bronze keyholes, enhancing the authenticity and refinement of the whole. The uprights are magnified by beautiful espagnolettes and golden bronze drops, showcasing the virtuoso craftsmanship of the Second Empire artisans. The highly dynamic sides are enriched with bronze figures and elegant corner brackets, adding depth and character to the piece. The mahogany interior houses two fixed shelves, providing practical storage space without compromising the luxurious aesthetic of the furniture. The Carrara marble top perfectly follows the sinuous lines of the piece, adding an extra touch of nobility and great durability. Beneath this marble, a label from the Coignerai furniture workshop is present. The whole rests on two front feet adorned with hooves decorated with acanthus leaves, further proof of the attention to detail and the quality of the materials used. A true symbol of the opulence and refined taste of the Napoleon III era, this sideboard is a centrepiece capable of enhancing both a classic interior and a contemporary decor.
