Superb pair of antique plates from the Émaux de Rubelles factory, near Melun in Seine-et-Marne. Their refined decoration illustrates the unique craftsmanship of this manufacture: a central relief medallion, finely moulded, depicting fruit branches (cherries and citrus) enhanced with a translucent emerald green glaze and a marbled rim in delicate shades of brown, cream, and blue, elegantly highlighting the depth of the reliefs. These plates can be dated to around 1845–1855, at the height of the factory's golden age, thanks to their stamp "Fabrique d’Émaux de Rubelles" and their characteristic decorative style. The factory, founded in 1839 by Alexis du Tremblay, was a pioneer in the art of applying translucent glazes to moulded patterns, creating unprecedented effects of light and depth for the time. Rare and emblematic pieces of French ceramic heritage, they will appeal to both collectors and lovers of elegant decoration. Diameter 20 cm. In good general condition, with a slight surface crack typical of their age, and micro scratches from use. An exceptional duo of plates, true witnesses to the refinement of the Émaux de Rubelles factory, ready to enhance your interior with timeless elegance.
